John’s personal history of Duran Duran
It was inevitable that John Taylor would become a rock musician. At the age of 14, he started skipping high school history classes to read the New Musical Express. Even though he couldn’t play a musical instrument at the time, he felt that one day he would get into the rock world.
John now regrets his ignorance in school. He says that he wishes he had learned to play the piano, and paid more attention in language classes. “It was just that, at the time, I’d be sitting there looking at bloody logarithms and I’d think, well, what’s the point of this?” John says. “I wish they’d teach me to drive instead.”
